The best part of her birthday

The best part of her birthday is having her grandparents come in. And of course Uncle Kahuna. The worst part is when they have to leave. Casey had a great weekend playing around the house. For some reason she just wanted to play inside with her grandparents and not go anywhere. Right now she's into building things out of cardboard boxes with her "makedo" set that has a plastic saw, a hole poker, and fasteners and she recruited grandma and grandpa to help make a house with tunnels where she could curl up with her book and her flashlight.

Grandma shopped and cooked up a storm. I woke up one morning to see our cooler full of food in the kitchen because there wasn't enough room in the fridge. Every piece of tupperware was in use. Definitely a first in our house.

Our birthday girl

Casey had an awesome pool party for her birthday. Most of her classmates were able to make it and it was fun to see everyone over summer break. The kids all went off the diving board and played in the big pool and the kiddie pool. We tried to keep it as simple as possible with pizza, watermelon, brownies, popsicles, and ice cream sandwiches. Everyone had a great time. We should do it more often!

Then Kahuna helped Casey open her presents. She got a fun marble track that she and Eric started playing with right away.

7 yrs old and growing

[Eric posting...]  Another birthday and another update on little girl's yearly growth. 44.5" as of today.  Still 3.5" until 48" (the magic height for water slides and roller coasters). That might be a stretch for next year....

Rained on our parade

It rained on the parade this year, but no one minded because it was nice and cool. Casey and Kaya don't run after all the candy anymore. I took a video of handfuls of Tootsie Rolls landing at their feet while they barely even noticed.

We had a birthday party for my great grandma who is now 96 years old. Casey had a great time playing with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She loves to be surrounded by her family.

Fun and games

Casey played hide-and-seek and kickball with Grandma, Grandpa, and Kaya. Grandpa helped her make another boat to float in the fountain, just like last year.

Mom's side of the family

We got in a day with my mom's side of the family. As always, we ate a lot of amazing food and the kids ran around like crazy. It was so fun to catch up with my cousins.

Cousins!

It was too rainy to go to the zoo this year so we went to a kids' play place.
