After the party we dropped Ted off so he could do his homework and checked out a new park. They had lots of monkey bars so it was a big hit with our baby big girl. (When I told Casey she was my baby she said I could call her "baby big girl".)

Ashley's princess party

Saturday night Eric and I went to see Cirque Du Soleil (Quiddam). The show was very disappointing, but that's another story. Neither of our two babysitters could come, so Veronica was nice enough to come over with Kyle and Cami. Casey slept in her castle bed while Kyle and Cami slept on the floor in sleeping bags, and then when we came home Veronica and Ted took Cami home but left Kyle with us. Casey was thrilled to have someone to play with in the morning when she woke up, but it meant we had to wake her up much earlier than she would have liked. Anyway, I'm not sure where I'm going with this story, but after breakfast we went down to their house so we could all carpool down to Santa Cruz for Ashley's princess party.

Veronica made a costume for Ted, Eric, and herself (evil queen from Snow White). She'd already made Kyle's for another holiday, and Cami went as Sleeping Beauty. You can see in the last picture that I went as Princess Party Pooper. I hate dressing up. I really don't understand why people get so excited about it. Eric went as "Eric" the prince or boyfriend of Ariel, who I think is also known as Little Mermaid. Eric loves dressing up but pretended to just be doing it for Casey and Veronica. Karen made her special lemonade for grownups and we all had a great time hanging out. Their house the perfect party house.

Pizza makers

Over the weekend Casey took her last kung fu class. She always seems to be having fun but she said she "hates" it. She even says that after class. It was fun while it lasted (for Eric and me). Oh well.

We went to another 1 year old's birthday party this weekend. Before we went, she made it clear that she would be eating grown up food with the grown ups. No babyfood.

We had another playdate with Samantha. The girls had a great time. Eric and I made another lasagne, now that we know how to do it. It was a big hit.

We went to see a youth production of Seussical the Musical. It was excellent. Casey really liked it and I can see her doing that some day. She liked Jo Jo and Thing 1 the best. (Thing 1 was the daughter of one of our friends.) We went over to say hi to Thing 1 (Melia) afterwards, and then Casey made me take her over to Jo Jo to talk to her and tell her she was her favorite character (she wanted me to do the talking). I'm supposed to be the shy one.

One night we made meat and red pepper pizzas. Messy work.

I took Casey to the dentist today for her checkup. Four more cavities. We have been brushing her teeth two or three times a day, and really well. And we totally cut down on candy and treats, especially lollies and gummies. So I have to take her back two more times in the next few weeks, two cavities per visit. I really can't believe it. She got some x-rays and she doesn't have cavities between her teeth, thank goodness.

The hygenist didn't ask what flavor of toothpaste she wanted and just gave her bubblegum flavor. Casey does not like bubblegum, and once she realized it was in her mouth, she sat up, threw off her headphones, threw off her sunglasses, and spit it out right on the chair! (There are no sinks nearby.) I have never seen her do anything like that. I suggested cherry toothpaste and things went relatively smoothly after that.

Outside the dentist's office there is a totem pole (which she thinks is called a dentist pole). She made a paper towel roll totem pole at school the other day and she had been saving it for him and gave it to him today. It was very sweet.

Princess preview

Ashley is planning a princess party, and Casey borrowed a fluffy tiarra and wand from Ellie so she can be properly dressed. Luckily she already has a dress that Veronica bought her quite a while ago and it is just starting to fit. DogDog is just growing into his matching dolly dress too. When they tried them on last weekend, they loved them, but a few days later Casey told me she wanted to dress as a doctor and DogDog didn't want to wear his dress either. Today she's leaning toward the dress again, but I decided to get a picture just in case. Brynn is planning to wear her firefighter outfit. Heheheh. It'll be 10 princesses, three princes, one firefighter, and one doctor princess. If you are wondering who the princes are, they are Ted, Kyle, and Eric. Veronica is working on their costumes now.

Weekend fun

Just another typical fun weekend. On Saturday we went to kung fu and then stopped at Max and Jonah's for a visit. Casey had fun running around and riding bikes with Ellie and Rico (picture 1). Then she took a nap in the car (so did Eric) while I ran into Trader Joe's, and we rushed home to arrive before Wesley. She woke up just in time for her playdate. The kids made smoothies and flower pot cupcakes -- they are really silicon baking cups that look like flower pots. So cool! Some day we will fill them with chocolate pudding and cookie crumbs and gummy worms and a lollipop for a flower. The kids played really well together and then my in-laws came over for dinner. (I don't mean Eric's parents, I mean the parents of Casey's true love and future husband... .) Eric and I made lasagne and it turned out to be delicious. Wesley wolfed it down despite the fact that it had beef and broccoli in it. Everyone was impressed, even me. Next time we won't make smoothies and cupcakes on the same day though. That was tiring!

Snow day

The kids were all completely bundled up for snow day. Some kids even wore their snow pants and boots all morning. I got all bundled up too, but then I realized that even though there is snow, we're still in Los Altos and it was spring-like outside. It was so fun to watch the kids sled down the little teacher- and parent-made hills. One of the dads was giving the kids a really good push and then yelling "lean forward lean forward" so they could make it over a little bump at the end. If they made it across the little bump, everyone cheered.

I almost forgot to mention that Casey got a lot of compliments from one of the boys, Matthew, who told her he liked her stripey socks, especially the stripe that was sort of green, and he liked the fur at the top of her boots because it looked like wolf fur.
