Happy Thanksgiving!

Summer in Tahoe

Yes, I'm a bit behind, as you may have noticed. Too many cameras. New computer. I have all kinds of excuses. We went boating with my friend Kathy and had a great time. The kids went "waterskiing" on the Poparazzi raft thingy (Eric pop-arazzi'ed it and we had to come back later with duct tape). We parked for a while and swam to a little beach. I think it looks like the kids are in a movie because the scenery just looks unreal. It's hard to believe that next time we go to Tahoe we'll be bringing skis.

Casey and Maya meet Jeff Kinney!

Casey, Maya, and 98 other kids got to meet Jeff Kinney, the author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The girls wrote out their lists of questions in the car on the way there and each brought their copy of the book, a pad of paper, a pen, and my camera.

I didn't get to meet him because it was NO PARENTS ALLOWED! I did get to see him coming out of his giant green tour bus that matches his new book (#8) and we said hi to each other as he walked into the store! Casey got called on to ask him a question and she asked him when his birthday was. He had answered most of her other questions during his talk. Too bad she didn't ask the first question she had thought of when I told her she got in, which was, "When are 9 and 10 coming out?" Heh. No pressure buddy, but it only takes her a day or two to read one. She has read all of his books and cracks up while reading them. Her teacher last year apparently sparked her interest in the first book by saying she couldn't read it because it was "inappropriate". Casey begged us for it, struggled to read it, and carried it around in her backpack for months. Now she eats them for breakfast.

Casey was so happy to see her school buddies. She's meeting a lot of new kids in her class. I can't believe she's a second grader!
