Beach time
Casey got to drive us around in a car, which was a big thrill for everyone, including pedestrians. Then we bought some shovels and buckets and she dug a hole to America.
The fourth picture pretty much shows Casey's attitude for the whole trip. She was happy and adventurous, and she had a great attitude.
Around Town
On the first night we slept at the Shifu Holiday Inn in Guangzhou. We woke up very early in the morning and were able to walk around town a bit before we headed to lunch to meet with Director Huang. We found ourselves in the wholesale natural Chinese medicine market and the pet market. Casey was impressed with all of the pets. They were pretty cute.
Meeting with Director Huang
When we visited China three years ago, we weren't able to meet with Director Huang, because there was a new director at her former orphanage. This time we were lucky to be able to meet him for lunch in Guangzhou. We were hoping to take him out for some good Chinese food, but guess where he wanted to meet? McDonald's! Casey had her first happy meal and wasn't too impressed. We never eat there at home. It was great to see him though. Casey brought him some oil paints and a little art journal and nice colored pencils for his granddaughter, and a little box of See's Chocolates. He brought her some bracelets, a necklace, and a red envelope with 100 RMB. (That's almost $17! She was very happy and bought herself a watch, a pen, and a giant pencil and still had $10 left.)
